Description
A City of Rocklin Horse-Drawn Water Wagon (note the dog on the water trailer). This image is a restoration of an old photograph from 100 or so years ago in the City of Rocklin, California. My original work had this horse-drawn wagon in the background and a contemporary pickup truck and water trailer (and two city employees) in the foreground. The purpose was to contrast the old with the new. At the request of the city I produced close to 50 such composites which were licensed to the city for use. Then a volunteer at the Rocklin Historical Society wanted to buy a framed print of just the "old" scene that he could present to the Rocklin Department of Public Services. I had to spice up the image a bit to make it useful for a stand-alone print. In the original "old" image the muzzle of the horse in the background was cut off at the edge of the photograph so I had to clone the muzzle of the near horse, transfer in to the far horse and blend it in to look natural. Then I had to extend the left side of the photograph further to the left to provide a fore and background to the left of where the original photo ended, thus cutting off the horse's nose and more.
