Description
When I was assigned to the Amboy Resident Post in March 1970, the closest court and judge was here, in this building. This is the Danby Justice Courthouse. The flag pole is still there but the telephone booth outside is gone. The court clerk's office was in the room just inside the door and far right window. Tje judge's office was to the rear of the clerk's office. The court room was to the left of the door with the bench at the rear of the room facing to the front. When a motorist demended to be thaken "forthwith" to the court, this is where we went. Check out Danby on the map. The only other buildings in town were and remain to the right (west) of the courthouse. They were then used as a tow yard and garage.
