Artist's Description
These now abandoned snow sheds at Donner Summit were originally built (and blasted from the granite) to protect the Southern Pacific Line trains from the heavy winter snow fall while they traversed the summit. They are now a place where people hike, walk their dogs, bike, motorcycle, and quad for recreation, not to mention the photographers.
